Are you speaking of it in any sense or in the literarry sense or just in movies and pix? Or even all of it combined? And are we talking porn in the hardcore sense or softcore?

you play no direct, active role in any pornography
you view. you are enticed by watching what
others do to others/self....

Pornography.
In the literary sense would be just "reading" and may not involve any voyaristic needs or wants. Most ladies I know would rather read a good porn story then actually view one acted out. I am not sure as to why though I have it heard that more guys are visual then women.
As for the video / picture / magazine.. does it lead to more voyuristic needs or wants? I would have to say so. I mean the whole looking at the pictures or movie is watching something sexual without being directly involved to any degree. This is very similar to voyourism in that you are still watching without the person committing the acts knowing your are there or in some cases not careing you are there.
But I am not sure if you mean by watching a porno does Tom want to run out and watch his neighbors fuck? Or does Tom just wish that if he had neighbors he liked and knew he could get away with it... would he watch them fuck.
Having been in all of these positions... I would say yes that it becomes that "goal" to acutally end up "just" watching or viewing a sex act (weather that be sex itself or say a lady masterbating) without knowing you are watching. Or even better... knowing you are but cant really do anything about it. Self torture. Hmmmmmmmmm
Hope that answers your question

yeah... i'm strictly talking about the act of
viewing porn... nothing more. nothing about what
a person may want to do afterward... or any of
that jazz.

I dunno about you, but I'd much rather have sex than watch someone else have sex.

Well depending on the people involved I think if I had my choice I would rather watch it live then perform it. It is much more hmmmmmmmmmmm exciting and depending on if you are a "known" viewer of the act or not makes it even more so.
So on the top of the list (a) I would rather watch 1 lady doing anything she chose then to (b) have sex with same lady.
But dont get me wrong... sex is good just more fun to sit back and absorb it in the work at it and then take the time to reflect if it was good or not.
And Shatzy then yes I would say porn does lead to it.
